Netflix Creates Production Hub In Toronto

They'll Be Taking Up Space At Two Studios, Making Up To 1,850 Jobs Per Year

Netflix has just announced that it is going to create a production hub in Toronto, using two studio spaces in the city to expand its presence in Canada.

The streaming service will lease four sound stages in addition to office space and support space at Cinespace Studios, taking up a total of 164,000 square feet. At Pinewood Toronto Studios, Netflix will also be leasing four sound stages and office space, making up a total of 84,580 square feet.

Both sites are set to support the production of forthcoming Netflix series and films, including horror anthology series Guillermo del Toro Presents Ten After MidnightLet It Snow, and more. These projects are set to provide production jobs for up to 1,850 Canadians every year.

“With this commitment to Cinespace and Pinewood Toronto, we are proud to continue our investment in Canada and Canadian films and series,” Vice President, Physical Production for Netflix Ty Warren explains in a statement. “These new leases will enable us to expand our presence in Canada and provide a wealth of production jobs for skilled Canadian workers.”

The announcement comes after Netflix announced in 2017 that it was committed to investing a total of $500 million in content production in Canada over the next five years.
