New Path Youth and Family Services adding a south Barrie location to help meet increased counselling demand

More staff being hired at new facility

Due to a spike in demand, New Path Youth and Family Services is opening a new location in Barrie’s south end.

The facility at 299 Lakeshore Drive, at the intersection of Minet’s Point Road, is expected to help meet the high demand for free and accredited child and youth mental health counselling services. New Path says it saw a spike in demand and an increased desire for in-person services over the past year.

“New Path is committed to providing high-quality child and youth mental health counselling services, when, how and where families need them,” says Elizabeth McKeeman, CEO of New Path. “To help us continue to support families and youth, we are expanding to a new Barrie south location and hiring more staff in order to continue to keep pace with demand.”

New Path continues to offer services by phone or virtually. Appointments can be made over the phone at (705) 725-7656 or toll-free at 1-866-566-7656. Alternatively, email info@newpath.ca and a counsellor will connect to book an appointment.

“We know this has been an especially challenging year for families and youth. We also want families and youth to know we’re here for you. Call us, and we will get you the mental health supports you need,” added McKeeman.

Despite the loosening of provincial restrictions, New Path says some COVID protocols remain in place at its locations. Medical-grade masks are required for in-person appointments and can be provided to those who lack one. COVID screening, physical distancing, and proper hand hygiene are also required.
