Nottawasaga OPP arrested a man in New Tecumseth Thursday in connection to a fraud investigation after an incident at a local bank.

Just before 4 p.m., officers were dispatched to 2 Queen Street South where there were reports of alleged fraud. They were advised by the complainant who believed a customer was attempting to open a bank account with fraudulent documents.

When police investigated, they determined the complaint was accurate, as the suspect was attempting to use a fraudulent ID and fraudulent passport to open an account.

The suspect fled from police on foot upon arrival, but officers quickly located and arrested the 33-year-old man from Toronto. He was subsequently charged with five counts of fraud.

He will answer to the charges in court in October.
