Visitors will soon see Niagara Falls like never before. On August 29, 2025, Niagara Takes Flight officially opened at Table Rock Centre, offering a state-of-the-art flying theatre experience at the very brink of the Horseshoe Falls.

“This is a transformative moment for Niagara Parks as we celebrate a dynamic new addition to Table Rock Centre. Niagara Takes Flight captures the essence of our world-renowned heritage.”

Bob Gale, Chair of Niagara Parks

A first for Ontario

The $25 million attraction is the first of its kind in Ontario and only the second in Canada, following Vancouver. Guests are suspended in gondola-style seats and lifted before a massive 180-degree, 17-metre-wide domed screen. Special effects — including mist, wind, motion, and even scent — add to the illusion of soaring high above Niagara.

The film, captured with custom-built drones over six months, provides never-before-seen perspectives of the Falls and Niagara River corridor, spanning all four seasons and transitioning from day to night.

Creative vision

The attraction was guided by Rick Rothschild, a former Disney Imagineer and the creator of Soarin’ Over California. Development was overseen by Brogent Technologies, leaders in flying theatre attractions found in cities like Chicago, Las Vegas, and New York.

Adding to the experience is narration by Niagara-raised filmmaker James Cameron (Avatar, Titanic, The Terminator), who lends his voice to the “Waterfall Room” pre-show.

Cameron reflected:

“It was a pleasure and honour to lend my voice to a project that celebrates the Falls and the city I grew up in. My first job at the age of 16 was working for the Niagara Parks Commission, so this closed that loop, 55 years later.”

Storytelling meets spectacle

Before boarding the ride, guests move through four pre-show storytelling rooms exploring 13,000 years of Niagara’s history, from the last ice age to modern times. Highlights include:

  • Indigenous storytelling: Original artwork by Turtle Clan and Mohawk Nation artist Sara General, animated to depict the creation story of Turtle Island.
  • Cultural milestones: Narrated by James Cameron, showcasing Niagara’s post-contact history and global significance.
