Why did people love to hate Nickelback? Or, in this case, "hate to love."
A new trailer for a documentary will explore the Canadian band's early days to their insane rise to fame and why so many people hated them or pretended not to like them.
"In the early 2000s there wasn't a band on the planet that got more airplay than Nickelback, and all that exposure triggered a reaction," we're told in the trailer.
They were called everything from Nickelbad, Nickelhack, Nickelcreed and 1000 other variations.
My personal favourite was "Theory of the three defaulted Nickeldoors." Sorry guys.
Lead man Chad Kroeger explains that they laughed off 90% of the hate, but some of it hurt.
Thankfully for them, people's vicious attitudes have softened over the years.
Hate To Love: Nickelback gets its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) this September.
