Nobody Hurt After Slow-Speed Train Strikes Car in Alliston

Members of the Public Tried To Help Push Stalled Vehicle Off Tracks

Nobody was hurt after a train hit a car in Alliston Friday morning.

According to OPP Constable Katy Viccary, a car stalled out on the tracks on Victoria St. in Alliston on Friday morning. Three people were in the car at the time.

Members of the public stepped in to try and help push the vehicle off the tracks as a train approached, but were unsuccessful.

Constable Viccary says the train was loaded with hazardous goods and was moving at a slower pace through Alliston as a result, but was unable to stop for the train. Everyone was out of the car by the time it struck.

The collision closed Victoria St. surrounding the scene for a time, while police expected the roadway would reopen early afternoon.
