Nottawasaga OPP make arrests in connection to counterfeit currency distribution ring impacting Simcoe County and beyond

Over 30 locations targetted with funny money

The OPP say it put some con artists in handcuffs, shutting down a counterfeit ring in the process.

Between February 10th and 27th, more than 30 establishments were the target of counterfeiters, with phony American bills in $20, $50, and $100 denominations being spent at businesses including liquor and beer stores, grocery stores, and fast-food restaurants. The offenses were reported throughout Simcoe County and surrounding area.

Nottawasaga OPP say an investigation led to the arrest of numerous people in connection to a counterfeit currency distribution ring, while the names of those arrested are being withheld, according to police, to protect the integrity of the investigation. Charges include fraud and possession of counterfeit currency.
