Off Duty York Regional Police Officer Facing Impaired Driving Charge

15-Year Veteran Charged in Weekend Traffic Stop

A fifteen year veteran of the York Regional Police has been charged with drunk driving.

A vehicle was pulled over on Clearmeadow Drive in Newmarket, around 1:30 Saturday morning, and the driver was given a roadside test which police say he failed. The 35-year-old Newmarket resident and off-duty officer was charged on the spot.

Police say the officer has been a member of the York Regional Police since 2004, previously working in the Guns, Gangs, and Drug Enforcement Unit, but has been on a leave of absence since November.
