Simcoe County will be receiving $248,000 less in provincial funding for EarlyON services.

Simcoe’s committee of the whole reviewed a report on Tuesday; detailing the provinces 2020 funding plan for child care programs. In total the county will receive $3,813,256 from the province for EarlyON programs — a $248,016 decrease from funding received in 2019.

In addition to the funding of the province, the County of Simcoe will be contributing $9,000 to the program; bringing the total budget for EarlyON to $3,822,256.

EarlyON served over 10,000 children in 2019 with over 40,000 total visits. The program provides parents with access to certified childcare workers to help guide and educate new parents through their child’s first milestones. EarlyON is active in 900 locations across the province.

County council will discuss this issue again during its March 24th meeting.
