Open Air Dunlop

News release - The Downtown Barrie BIA

Open Air Dunlop takes place in Downtown Barrie this Saturday, as week 6 of the event is filled with entertainment and activities for all.

This Saturday, July 16th:

Clean Up Barrie!

A branch of Barrie Families Unite, a local not-for-profit organization, will be set up to promote keeping Barrie beautiful and garbage free.

Last year, their volunteers cleaned up over 230 bags of garbage in over 30 locations. This year the group received a grant from The Great Outdoors Fund and UnSmoke Canada for litter clean-ups, targeting cigarette butts - the number one most littered item in the world.

They will be at Open Air Dunlop giving away prizes and clean-up kits to encourage residents to clean up Dunlop and the surrounding area of cigarette butts.

West End Mural

Visitors can catch Baraket Kezwer and Monica Loney working on our Maple Street Mural between 9:00 a.m., and 4:00 p.m.

Urban Sketching with Spare Room will be hosted by Emily Lemen, whose work you can currently find on display at Bohemia.

‘Open Air Afternoons’ Meridian Place Stage

This weekend we have Danny Michel on Meridian Stage between 2:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m.

With nominations for three JUNOs, the Polaris Prize, The CBC "Heart Of Gold" and a pile of albums under his belt, Danny Michel is unquestionably one of Canada’s finest songwriters. His thoughtful lyrics & earnest performances have earned him a devoted fanbase.

A musical chameleon, able to slip into many genres with ease. An adventurous & fearless artist. A master at striking the right balance between unpredictability and meeting expectations, leaving you wanting more as soon as it’s over.

Of course, our local businesses will be open to welcome you to browse and shop at your leisure.

Top off your Open Air visit with a patio snack and drink of a sociable nature.
