Open Air Dunlop is in full swing in downtown Barrie and continues every Saturday all summer long! Each weekend in July, Open Air Dunlop will also be taking place on Dunlop St West between the Five Points intersection and Toronto St to pilot the event in the downtown’s west end. In addition, beginning July 2, Open Air Dunlop will be taking place on Fridays before long weekends.
“We were disappointed to not be able to move forward with Promenade Days and Canada Day programming this year, but we’re excited to expand Open Air Dunlop for the public to enjoy,” says Kelly McKenna, Executive Director of the Downtown Barrie Business Association (BIA). “So far, each Saturday has brought many smiling faces to our downtown and our membership is so happy to have re-opened. We can’t wait to see the effects of this expansion on the personal services sector that we hope will be re-opening soon!”
Recently, the Downtown Barrie Business Association (BIA) called for the immediate re-opening of the personal services sector ahead of Step 2. This sector has always adhered to strict health and safety regulations and represents nearly 50% of Downtown Barrie BIA businesses.
When you head downtown for Open Air Dunlop, look for personal protective equipment (PPE) and sanitation stations that are provided along Dunlop Street East as well as signage with reminders of recommended health and safety measures that the public are asked to follow, including physical distancing, washing hands often and wearing masks.
As we navigate through each step of the Province’s Roadmap to Re-Opening, Open Air Dunlop will welcome increased activation. All downtown Barrie businesses will be following mandated health and safety protocols to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all. Regulatory updates will be communicated.
