Opioid-related death in Muskoka leads to pair of trafficking arrests

Search warrant executed at Barrie hotel

Two people have been charged following an opioid-related death in Muskoka.

The death kicked off a trafficking investigation in October, involving the Muskoka Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and led to a search warrant being executed in Barrie. With the help of the Barrie Police Service, the CSCU searched a hotel room in the city, and seized cocaine and fentanyl. Police believe the drugs seized has a total street value of up to $55,650.

Two people were taken into custody and face a combined 13 criminal charges.
