An investigation into a grow operation in Tiny led to the seizure of a large amount of cannabis and six arrests made by OPP on Wednesday morning.

A search warrant was executed at a rural property on Chemin du Loup after an earlier investigation revealed that it was the site of a large-scale grow operation.

Police say they had grounds to believe that a small, licensed cannabis production facility was producing well beyond authorized limits.

The execution was executed in a joint effort by the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) were assisted by Huronia West/Collingwood CSCU, as well as the Central Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT).

Six individuals were arrested upon police arrival inside the property, from which 8,100 live cannabis plants, 762 pounds of dried cannabis, and a quantity of Canadian currency was seized during the search.

The total estimated value of the seized items is approximately $9.5 million.

The six individuals arrested were released unconditionally, and more suspects are being sought by police for offences contrary to the Cannabis Act.
