Provincial police say the deaths of a woman and a child at a home in Tottenham were homicides.

On Dec. 26, 2022, at around 5:40 p.m., officers were contacted to do a well-being check at a home on Pyne Hills Court. When police arrived, there was a fire at the residence, and assistance from New Tecumseth Fire and County of Simcoe paramedics was requested.

Two people were found dead inside the home. A third person was transported to the hospital where they were pronounced deceased.

Police have confirmed the cause of death was not due to the fire at the home.

The homicide victims have been identified as 48-year-old Adrienne Nesich and a nine-year-old child. The other person who died has been identified as 45-year-old Christopher Nesich.

Investigators say there is no threat to public safety surrounding this isolated incident.

The investigation is continuing under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), with assistance from OPP Central Region Crime Units and OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS), and in collaboration with the Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) and Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario.

Anyone with any information in relation to this investigation is asked to contact the Nottawasaga OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
