OPP in Penetanguishene investigating a spate of assaults

Arrests have been made in two of three incidents

A 37-year-old Midland man and a 21-year-old from Penetanguishene have been charged with Assault with a Weapon and Uttering Threats.

Southern Georgian Bay OPP officers were called after someone reported they had been threatened by two men Sunday evening (June 6), one carrying a bat, in Rotary Champlain Wendat Park near the Penetanguishene Curling Rink Parking lot.

On Saturday afternoon (June 5), just before 6 o’clock, came reports of an assault on Water Street, near Owen Street in Penetanguishene. A 24-year-old Penetanguishene man has been charged with two counts of Assault.

And on Sunday, May 30, officers were called to Ojibway Landing off Robert Street West where two people had been camping illegally. One said they had been assaulted by two people they found in their tent.

No arrests have been made.
