OPP lay impaired charges following failed seat switch in Springwater

Passenger who switched also issued a licence suspension

An effort to switch things up was an epic fail.

An OPP cruiser was on Flos Road 11 in Springwater Township Saturday evening when an officer travelling behind a pickup truck watched as the vehicle pulled over to the shoulder. The officer noticed the driver struggled to keep his balance as he walked around the front of the truck and switched seats with the front passenger.

The officer stopped the vehicle and could smell alcohol coming from the interior and noticed an alcoholic drink in the passenger side door.

A roadside breath sample was administered and a 26 year old Toronto man was charged with impaired driving.

The passenger who switched seats was also ordered to submit a breath sample and registered in the “ALERT” range, resulting in a three-day licence suspension.
