Two people in their 30s from North York were plucked to safety by the Huronia West Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Marine Unit after they became stranded in Georgian Bay, about five kilometres from shore in an inflatable boat.

On May 26, 2024, police were alerted that an inflatable boat had drifted from shore and was taking on water. The two individuals were safely rescued, but once on land, they encountered choppy waters of the legal kind.

Police charged both of them with having control of a boat with an open container of liquor, and one of the individuals was also charged with operating a pleasure craft without lifejackets on board.
