Provincial police say they executed search warrants at a business selling magic mushrooms in Alliston, and two locations in Barrie during a drug trafficking investigation.
"Nottawasaga OPP received multiple complaints of a mushroom dispensary located on Victoria Street in Alliston. The business is known to have been selling Psilocybin (magic mushrooms), a psychedelic drug that can affect all senses and cause hallucinogenic effects. Psilocybin is illegal to possess or traffick under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)." police said in a news release on Thursday.
According to authorities, police executed a search warrant at the business in Alliston, along with a storage unit and a residence in Barrie.
As a result of the investigation, the following items were seized:
· 3,887 grams Psilocybin (valued at $33,300.00)
· Approx: $10,000.00 in Canadian Currency
· A 2017 Hyundai Elantra valued at approximately $20,000.00 (Seized as Offence Related Property)
· A quantity of Dimethyltryptamine also known as DMT
· vacuum sealer, scale, cellphones, packaging materials
· Psilocybin advertising materials
A 28-year-old Barrie man has been charged with several drug-related offences and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
The accused has a court date in July.
