Provincial police in Orillia say an officer was assaulted during the arrest of two men who were on outstanding warrants.
On Friday around 6:00 p.m., police were called to a Colborne Street business for reports of two suspicious men - both were identified as persons currently on outstanding warrants.
"During the arrest, both males became combative and attempted to flee police custody," OPP stated in a release. "An officer sustained minor injuries during the altercation and both individuals were arrested and charged."
A 28-year-old Orillia man has been charged with:
- Fail to comply with probation order - 2 counts
- Fail to comply with an appearance notice
- Escape lawful custody
- Assault with intent to resist arrest
- Resist peace officer
The accused is scheduled to appear in Orillia court on June 17.
While a 33-year-old Barrie man faces one charge:
- Resist peace officer
He is scheduled for court in Orillia on July 25.
