OPP officer charged with firearms offences
Charges related to training; did not involve the public
An OPP officer with the Central Region Emergency Response Team has been charged with firearms offences and suspended with pay under the Police Services Act.
The accused, a 23-year member of the OPP, has been charged with Discharging Firearm – Recklessness and Careless Use of a Firearm, contrary to the Criminal Code.
The incidents in question relate to on-duty police training exercises at police firearms ranges and did not involve the public.
