OPP seize more than 9,000 pot plants at Tiny Township farm

No charges laid as investigation continues

Ontario Provincial Police executed a search warrant at a farm just north of Wyevale on Tuesday after complaints from area residents the day before about a possible marijuana grow operation.

Officers located several buildings on the property with signs of a grow operation in progress and required assistance from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Community Street Crime Unit. The Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team was contacted and further investigation resulted in the search warrant being executed.

Investigators said they found a professional, high-quality installation that was in the process of growing a large number of cannabis plants in various stages of development along with further mass production facilities in the process of being constructed.

The seized property included:

  • 9207 Cannabis plants
  • 2448 clones
  • 80 lbs of Cannabis bud
  • a loaded and insecure .22 calibre rifle

Police said no charges have been laid.

The investigation continues.
