After a lengthy investigation, Barrie police say they have arrested and charged a 38-year-old Orillia man with two counts of possession of child pornography.

The man was taken into custody on June 20, 2024, according to police, with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police Child Exploitation Unit.

During a search warrant executed at an Orillia residence, police say they seized numerous computer devices along with child sex toys and child pornography books.

"The suspect was held for bail and later released to his surety with several conditions and a future court date," Barrie police stated in a news release.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expending pending the forensics of seized computer devices.
