Provincial police say a man who died of injuries after a person found him injured on Coldwater Road in Orillia on Thursday evening has been identified as 34 year old Derek Simmerson.
Investigators say Simmerson is from Orillia.
The OPP confirm its investigators are probing a homicide in Orillia.
Shortly before 8:30 Thursday evening, a bystander came across a man suffering serious injuries, laying on Coldwater Road near Emily Street. The OPP and County of Simcoe paramedics arrived on scene shortly after, to find the man had suffered some form of serious trauma.

The 34-year-old Orillia man was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. A homicide investigation commenced shortly after.
Coldwater Road was closed from Collegiate Drive to Cameron Street for the investigation but reopened shortly after noon Friday.
