A teenage driver from Oro-Medonte stood out to Ontario Provincial Police as their vehicle was spotted on Beach Drive in Wasaga Beach just before 11 p.m. on Saturday without any rear lights activated.
"After making initial contact with the driver, officers entered into an impaired driving investigation and the driver was required to submit to roadside alcohol screening," OPP stated in a news release.
The 17-year-old driver registered a "fail" on a roadside screening test and was arrested for impaired driving.
The youth was charged with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired - 80+
- Possession of forged document
- Possession of an identity document
- Driving a motor vehicle with unsealed container of liquor
- Person under 19 years having liquor
- Novice driver B.A.C. above zero
- Young driver B.A.C. above zero
- Drive without proper rear lights - motor vehicle
The accused has been released and will appear in court at a later date. They also face a 90-day drivers licence suspension and a 7-day vehicle impoundment.
