Over 100 Combined Years Of Christmas Cheer Volunteering Recognized With Provincial Award

“We can not do what we do without the members of our board,"

Despite being in the thick of the holiday season, six individuals with the Barrie and District Christmas Cheer took the time to receive some well-earned kudos.

The Ontario Volunteer Service Awards recognizes individuals who have volunteered their time to a local organization within their community, and this year centered out six within the Christmas Cheer organization. Donna Jelly was honoured for her 15 years of service, as were Ted and Val Blaker. Dianne Gayler’s 20 years of volunteering with Christmas Cheer was recognized, while Cindy Tonn’s 24 years of service didn’t go unnoticed. Casey Hooymans has 30 years under his belt. Combined, they represent over 111 years of volunteer service.

“We can not do what we do without the members of our board,” says Christmas Cheer President Leah Wells, “and specifically those who have been so dedicated for so long.”
