Public Health Ontario continues to report a large portion of COVID-19 cases in long-term care homes across the province.
On Tuesday, health officials increased the provincial case count to 23,384, an increase of 427 since Monday. That includes 17,898 people who have recovered, 260 more than yesterday’s update. It also includes another 15 lives lost since Monday, 1,919 to date.
Of the cases reported, Public Health Ontario says there are 4,235 cases among long-term care home residents, representing 18 percent of all cases. There have been 1,115 deaths reported among residents, over 58 percent of all fatalities linked to COVID-19.
