As part of the City of Barrie’s 2026 Pavement Management Program, overnight closures of Bayfield Street, Sophia Street to Dunlop Street and Dunlop Street to Simcoe Street, are scheduled for May 18 to 22 as well as June 11 and 12 to allow crews to complete asphalt removal and replacement. Bayfield Street will be closed nightly from 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., reopening each morning. The Dunlop Street intersection will remain open throughout the closures.

Detours will direct southbound traffic via Wellington Street West, Maple Avenue, and Simcoe Street, while northbound traffic will be routed from Lakeshore Drive via Toronto Street and Dunlop Street, or Toronto Street and Wellington Street West. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and follow posted signage.

Barrie Transit routes 8A-NB, 8B-SB, 10, 11, 100, and 101 will follow a detour from May 18 until construction is complete, in effect nightly from 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. For full detour information, visit MyRideBarrie.ca/news.
