Paige’s Passion Music Fest wants you to rock out while helping the RVH Cancer Care Unit

Event honours Paige Doucette who passed away in 2012

Paige’s Passion Music Festival is back doing what it does best, raising funds for a great cause while rocking out and showing off local talent.

For the last ten years, the concert has raised funds for The Royal Victoria Hospitals Cancer Care Unit in honour of Paige Doucette, who passed away in 2012.

The 19-year-old Barrie resident passed away eight months after being diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.

Festival Founder Katherine “Kat” Chabot says Paige was a vibrant and talented young woman who was passionate about music.

“She loved music, so we love to keep her memory alive by hosting this rock concert every year.” Chabot explains.

Headliners include Barrie’s Dylan Lock, along with The Straits.

Artist submissions are still being accepted for bands and solo artists, and anyone wishing to participate can submit their request at paigespassionmusicfest@gmail.com

Chabot says submissions will be based on community voting, so it’s best to get in submissions in as quickly as possible before the March 31 cut-off.

Funds are going towards the Cancer Care Unit at RVH.

” We are backing up the RVH “Keep Life Wild” campaign this year too” Chabot says. “Since they’re trying to meet their fundraising goal to expand care in the Barrie hospital, but also, the really exciting announcement of the Innisfil hospital coming into fruition.”

“The ‘Keep Life Wild’ campaign is the idea to keep doing what you love, like going outside and being surrounded by nature. In this case, we love to promote music because of its healing qualities.” Chabot says.

This year’s event is on April 15 at Lion’s Gate Banquet Centre at 386 Blake St, Barrie.
