A 60-year-old Barrie man has been charged with impaired driving after an unoccupied vehicle parked westbound on Steel Street was struck by an eastbound vehicle.
Around 11:40 Thursday night, Barrie police were called to the collision where the officer found the driver was showing signs of impairment. He was arrested for impaired driving and taken back to police headquarters.
"The driver was later interviewed by a qualified breathalyzer technician who confirmed through testing samples of breath that the driver was impaired by alcohol," police said in a news release.
The accused was released from custody and has a court date next month.
His driver's licence has been suspended for 90-days, and his car impounded for seven days.
As a result of the collision, police say both vehicles sustained heavy damage.
