News release - City of Barrie

From June 15 to September 15, 2023, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., 'No Parking Except by Permit' will apply to all on-street parking in select spillover waterfront parking areas within walking distance (approximately 500 metres) of the following waterfront locations.

  • Centennial Beach (65 Lakeshore Drive)
  • Dock Road Park (200 Dock Road)
  • Johnson's Beach (2 Johnson Street)
  • Minet's Point Park (10 Lismer Boulevard)
  • Tyndale Park (45 Tyndale Road)
  • Wilkins Park (121 Crimson Ridge Road)

These parking restrictions are also in effect for the following waterfront parking lots"

  • Gables Park parking lot (250 Tollendal Mill Road)
  • Dock Road Park parking lot (200 Dock Road)

Signage reflecting the restrictions is currently installed to identify areas where the restrictions are in place. Pre-existing 'No Parking Anytime' and 'No Parking During Specified Hours' areas will remain in effect.

Vehicles must be registered with an active digital waterfront parking permit, or display a hangtag waterfront parking pass to avoid getting a ticket while parked in these areas between June 15 and September 15, 2023.

Residents are reminded that hangtag waterfront parking passes expire December 31, 2023, giving residents time to register their vehicle with a free digital waterfront parking permit. Residents can apply for a digital waterfront parking permit for free using the HotSpot app or website; instructions are available at barrie.ca/WaterfrontParking. Residents who prefer to apply in person can bring the required documentation to Service Barrie (City Hall, 70 Collier Street), where City staff will validate and set them up in HotSpot, and there is also a drop-in information session to help residents apply on Thursday, June 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Parkview Centre (189 Blake Street).

The Municipal Parking Map can be found at barrie.ca/parking.
