Passerby pulls person out window to safety during Orillia house fire

Two people escaped a fire at an Orillia home on Friday morning, but one of them was plucked through a window to safety by a passerby who saw the smoke and used a ladder to reach the individual, according to Fire Chief Michael Clark.

He told Barrie 360 that crews were called to the Crawford Street residence around 5:45 a.m.

Flames were contained to the living room but there was extensive smoke damage throughout the house.

Damage to the residence is about $100,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal and the police.
