Two Newmarket women face charges after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle that failed to remain at the scene in Innisfil.

On Wednesday around 1:30 p.m., the South Simcoe Police Service responded to a collision where a male pedestrian was hit in a Cookstown parking lot near Highway 89 and Highway 400 - the vehicle had left the scene.

Police say, following an investigation, they arrested the 56 and 60-year-old and laid charges including failing to stop after an accident and dangerous operation.

Both were released with a future court date.

The 35-year-old man who was struck was treated in hospital for minor injuries and released.
