Pedestrian who fell from Anne Street overpass receiving treatment they need: Barrie Police

The 400 was also gummed up by a vehicle rollover around the same time

Provincial police said there were no injuries to anyone in a vehicle that rolled on Highway 400 southbound near Anne Street on Thursday evening.

There was a report persons were trapped inside the vehicle.

At about the same time in the northbound lanes at Anne Street, police reported someone had fallen from the overpass.

Barrie police said Friday that individual is in hospital and receiving the treatment they need and no further updates will be provided.

Both incidents resulted in the closure of the 400 for a period of hours.

A pedestrian has been rushed to hospital after they fell from a Barrie overpass onto the 400. That, combined with a vehicle rollover in the same area, all lanes had to be closed.

OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt reported on Thursday evening that a woman had fallen from the Anne St. overpass onto northbound lanes and was taken to hospital. He couldn’t specify the nature of her injuries, her condition, or how she came to fall from the overpass around 5:30 Thursday evening.

Around the same time, a vehicle rollover occurred on the southbound side of the 400 near Anne St., causing a collision involving multiple vehicles. “People are trapped inside those vehicles as well,” said Schmidt just after 6 p.m. Thursday. “EMS, Barrie City Police are all on scene assisting with traffic control.” It is as yet unknown how the collision occurred or if it was related to events in the opposite lanes.

All lanes of the 400 were closed between Dunlop and Bayfield Streets, in both directions, due to these two incidences.
