Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say three pedestrians were struck in a two-vehicle collision in downtown Orillia, and one of the victims, a six-year-old child, was killed.

Police, firefighters and County of Simcoe paramedics responded to the collision on Colborne Street at West Street just before 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Three pedestrians were transported to Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, where the child succumbed to their injuries.

The intersection was closed for the investigation.

OPP request that any witnesses who have not already spoken to police or who have video surveillance in the area to contact them at 1-888-310-1122.
