A 33-year-old Penetanguishene man has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault after Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a residence on Monday night when first responders alerted police that they had been dispatched to a residence in Tiny Township about an injured male.

After a brief investigation, police said the suspect was located at the residence and transported to the Southern Georgian Bay OPP detachment for further investigation.

The male victim was transported by paramedics to a local hospital and later transported by air ambulance to a Toronto area trauma centre for treatment of life-threatening injuries from what police said was caused by an edged weapon.

The suspect was held for a bail hearing in court at a later date.
