A Pennsylvania neighbourhood gathered along their street to say goodbye to a dog going on his last walk around the block.
Mellow was diagnosed with lymphoma and not expected to live until the end of June, so his owner Kevin planned a proper send-off for his beloved dog.
Notes were dropped off to neighbours explaining his wishes before going to doggy heaven.
"My name is Mellow, and I have lived in Dupont since September 2019 with my owner Kevin."
"You may have noticed us walking in the neighbourhood twice daily, every day — rain, snow, or shine. Some neighbours may have pet me or given me treats before, while others I may only know through their own dogs that say hello to me as we pass by. Regardless of how well we know each other, you have made my life so much richer than any rescue dog could have hoped for. I am grateful to have such caring neighbours and live in a community that looks out for one another so well," the letter said.
It concluded with the wish that everyone see Mellow off on a final walk, saying "Thank you for making my life so good."
The message eventually found its way onto a community page, and the response was overwhelming.
On June 3rd, dozens of people showed up to say goodbye.
According to People magazine, at least 20 people were on every corner, and some children made signs that read, 'We Love Mellow.'
He was treated to tons of extra pets, and treats on the journey,
Community resident KJ Warunek told the publication he was gentle with everyone, soaking up all the extra attention.
"He knew that it was his day!"
Since his story first came to light, it's gathered national and international attention.
