A total of seven people have now been charged by South Simcoe Police in connection with a human trafficking investigation dubbed Project Chameleon.

In May of this year, police received a report of a female being held in a home in Innisfil for the purpose of sexual services. With assistance from Barrie Police and York Regional Police, search warrants were executed on two residences on November 1 and three people were arrested. As a result, three females were safely removed from a residence.

During the raids, police say they seized more than $30,000 in illegal drugs including fentanyl, crystal meth, cocaine and a quality of pills believed to be oxycodone.

Three men from Barrie, Innisfil and Brampton were charged with human trafficking and drug-related offences.

A fourth suspect from Brampton who was wanted on a warrant surrendered without incident on Nov. 20.

Police say that since that time, investigators have identified and charged three other people with human trafficking offences. The suspects are from Innisfil, Newmarket and Wasaga Beach.

The suspects arrested in this investigation remain in custody.

If there is anyone who can provide additional information related to this investigation, contact the investigators listed below or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
