According to recent internet trends, it's a good idea to start washing your shredded cheese.

This substance is an anti-caking agent that prevents the cheese from sticking together.

Different companies use different products to achieve this, including potato starch, powdered cellulose, or tapioca, but the end goal is the same, it keeps the cheese fresh and loose.

Many people have been washing their shredded cheese online to see if it makes a difference, and the results look ridiculous and tedious.

When washed, the water turns murkier from the anti-caking ingredients,  grossing some people out.

While the grey stuff that comes off the cheese might not look appetizing but, the clean-up seems even worse.

I can't imagine wet cheese tastes good, so you must dry it on paper towels.

By doing this, you lose the convenience of shredded cheese at a not-so-convenient markup from the bricks.

If you can't stand the milky film, you might want to grate a brick and save a few bucks.
