Perfect Places To Warm Up With A Bowl Of Soup In Barrie

As the weather gets colder and the leaves turn, there's nothing quite like soup to warm you up from the inside out. Here's a few places in Barrie worth checking out if you're looking for that perfect bowl of soup to keep the chill out.

Fresh-A-Fare

'Real Food, Cooked Slow - Served Fast'. That's the Fresh-A-Fare motto, and you can certainly taste it in their food. They make their soups from scratch and change the selection every day. Our personal favourite is the Buffalo Chicken Wing soup, but no matter which one you choose it's sure to get your taste buds dancing.

Ripe Juicery

Yes, Ripe started as the place to get fresh-pressed juices and smoothies in Barrie. However, they recently added a full menu to their repertoire and honestly, we don't know how we ever lived without their delicious, plant-based food. Made 100% from scratch every day, they're changing the soup game one bowl at a time.

Pho Mekong

If you didn't know it was there you might drive past Pho Mekong on Essa Rd, but we highly suggest you stop. The Pho is fresh, delicious and the portions are enormous. Bring your appetite, or you might have to ask for a take out container.

Lazy Tulip

Lazy Tulip Cafe is an eclectic little spot in the heart of downtown Barrie. They are open for breakfast and lunch, and offer a soup special every day. We love their waffle grilled cheese served with a soup shot for dipping. Per. Fec. Tion.

Simmering Kettle

Listen - there are a lot of things we could say about the Simmering Kettle but we are just going to say this: Hot Soup. Fresh Sandwich. Perfect Combo. You're welcome.

Cocina Mexicana

You're probably surprised to see a Mexican restaurant on a best soups list, but like you're mom used to say 'don't knock it until you've tried it'! Cocina Mexicana actually has four different soups on their menu - Caldo de Pollo, Caldo Tlalpeno, Pozole & Sopa de Tortilla - and they are all equally delicious. The great news is they're an all-you-can-eat restaurant, so you can try all four !

Town & Country Steakhouse

Don't let the name fool you, this place is more than a steakhouse. We could rave for days about the entire menu but this list is about soup so we will just let the photobelow of the perfect-oooey-gooey-onion soup speak for itself.

The Bull & Barrel Pub

The Bull & Barrel has their Ale & Onion Soup on the menu every single day, and trust us when we say it is absolutely delicious. Braised onions in an ale and chicken stock, with croutons & three kinds of cheese - what's not to like? But the chef also makes a 'Soup of the Day' from scratch every. single. day. and honestly, you're going to have a hard time choosing which bowl to go with. Just get both, it's better that way.

Bohemia

Bohemia's slogan is 'sanctifying the ordinary', meaning they're all about modern twists on old fashioned recipes. Their soup selection changes every day, and we've yet to try one we haven't LOVED. If you happen to be there on a day when they're serving their Ruby Borscht get it - and tell them we sent you.
