If they were chatting up a storm, it was an expensive one.
On Thursday, between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m., Ontario Provincial Police conducted a cellphone enforcement blitz on Yonge Street and charged 10 motorists with distracted driving.
Police said the charge for driving while using a handheld phone is a $615 fine and 3 to 6 demerit points.
"During this traffic enforcement, the OPP were approached by several residents in the area who showed their appreciation as they have noticed an increase in distracted driving in the area," police stated in a news release on Friday.
