The Barrie Colts are more than just a junior ice hockey team – they are a vital part of the Barrie community and economy.
Owned by Horsepower Sports and Entertainment (HSE), which also operates Colt Food Services and the Barrie Colts Foundation, the organization plays a significant role in supporting local growth and giving back. Employing a large number of residents, HSE contributes an impressive $43 million annually to the City of Barrie’s economy.
Beyond their economic impact, the Colts are deeply committed to community engagement through their foundation and the Colts Adopt A School program. Together, they donate over $250,000 each year to local charities and schools across Simcoe County, helping to build a stronger, healthier community.
On the ice, the Barrie Colts compete in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), playing their home games at Sadlon Arena.
Since joining the OHL in 1995, the team has grown in stature and success, highlighted by winning the prestigious J. Ross Robertson Cup during the 1999–2000 season and competing in the 2000 Memorial Cup.
The Colts continue to be a source of pride and excitement for hockey fans throughout Barrie and beyond.
