The group Barrie Families Unite put a call out to the public Tuesday for participants of a walk-by of Mill Creek Care Centre on Barrie’s Hurst Drive. About 30 people answered the call.
Families kept physically distant from others as the whole group paraded past the south Barrie long-term care home. Smiles from the folks living within could be seen from the pathways outside. Participants dared not get any closer.
Currently, visits to long-term care homes are not permitted under provincial COVID-19 guidelines, in order to control the spread of the virus.
That changes on Thursday when the province says these facilities can welcome one guest per resident per week, but that the visit must take place out-of-doors.
