Two Suspects Sought in Distraction Theft

Some currency flim-flamming has Barrie Police looking for two suspects.

Investigators say the man and woman went into the Centra Food Market on Bayfield St. on Saturday, November 16th, and purchased two drinks. While paying, it is said the male suspect asked to exchange $20 bills after telling the cashier he collects Canadian currency. The cashier accepted the request and, through a distraction technique, the suspects ended up walking out with nineteen $20 bills.

The suspects are described as:

  • Male, approximately 35 years old, 5’8, dark complexion, black hair, heavy accent and possibly of South Asian or Middle Eastern decent.
  • Female, approximately 30 years old, 5’6, dark complexion, black hair, heavy accent and possibly of South Asian or Middle Eastern decent.
