Bracebridge OPP is investigating the death of a child they say had suffered "significant injuries."

Police and Muskoka paramedics responded to a call at a home in Gravenhurst on Jan. 5. A two-year-old child was transported to a local hospital and then taken to a Toronto hospital, where they died of their injuries two days later.

"The investigation is complex and more information will be provided as it becomes available," police said in a statement on Monday.

They added that "there is no threat to public safety."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Bracebridge OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
