Police seize handgun, drugs during traffic stop in Midland

The suspects face numerous charges

Firearm and drug charges were laid by Southern Georgian Bay OPP after a vehicle stop on County Road 93 in Midland on Sunday evening.

Police say they seized a loaded handgun and a number of drugs including heroin, fentanyl, cocaine, oxycodone, and Canadian currency.

A 20-year-old Brampton man has been charged with:

  • Carrying concealed weapon
  • Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Firearm
  • Possession of Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Possession of a Firearm knowing Serial Number has been Tampered With
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 – in Canada

And further with

  • Driving while under suspension
  • Speeding 1 – 49 Km/h over posted limit
  • Drive motor vehicle – no licence

Contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Heroin
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Other Drugs (two counts)

Contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act

A 23-year-old St. Catharines man has been charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Firearm knowing Serial Number has been Tampered With
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 – in Canada
  • Possession of Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm

And further with

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Heroin
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Other Drugs (two counts)

Contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act

Both accused persons are being held for a bail hearing and will appear in court at a future date.
