UPDATE: Police in Midland Seize Pellet Gun Following School Lockdown

Two Youths Arrested, One Charged

OPP in Midland have laid charges against one of the youths arrested last week after a lockdown at Georgian Bay District Secondary School.

The charges include:

  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Mischief – obstructs, interrupts or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property
  • Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm

Two youths have been taken into custody, after the lockdown of a Midland high school.

Georgian Bay District Secondary School was placed in a lockdown shortly before noon Thursday after the local OPP detachment received information about a threat at the school.

Officers rushed to the high school, then tracked two youths to a location just off school property. A pellet gun was seized, and the lockdown was lifted.

One of the youths placed in custody will face criminal charges. There were no injuries in the incident.
