The severe weather was ahead of a cold front that returned us back to the fall season

A brief taste of late October summer was shattered by several lines of severe thunderstorms that marched across Simcoe County and Muskoka Friday afternoon and evening.

At the height of the severe weather, tornado warnings and watches were posted from Barrie to Bracebridge, with golf ball-sized hail reported in some areas including Collingwood, Midland, Orillia and Waubaushene.

The storms were ahead of a cold front that knocked the summer weather out of the ballpark and returned the region to fall overnight.

Ontario Hydro reported 28,000 customers were without power across southern and central parts of the province on Friday nigh. Restoration in some places was not expected until Saturday.
