Calling all Barrie dog lovers! Does your furry friend have model looks and a heart of gold? Then enter the Precious Paws Rescue Dog Calendar Contest for your chance to support a worthy cause, have your pet professional photographed and immortalize your pup in print!
Barrie's own award-winning dog photographer Missy Maher of Missy Maher Dog Photography has teamed up with Precious Paws Rescue for an exciting fundraiser. Dog owners can submit a photo of their pup, then vote along with others for the top 13 dogs.
The dog with the most votes will be crowned the calendar cover star. The 12 remaining finalists will secure a professional outdoor photoshoot with Missy Maher, capturing their canine charisma for the remaining calendar pages.
Missy shares, "I have adopted 3 dogs through rescue in my adult life and continuing to support them in any way I can is something that is close to my heart. Rescues not only help dogs in need but also often promote responsible pet ownership and strengthen our community by fostering a culture of empathy and kindness towards animals."
She continues, "Precious Paws Rescue goes one step further in that they have a fund that aims to keep pets with their families whenever possible. Their unwavering commitment to animals in need is inspiring."
Here's how to get involved
Taking part in the calendar contest is easy:
- Submit a photo of your pup: Show off your dog's best side for a chance to be featured in the 2025 Precious Paws Rescue calendar. The fee to enter is $5.
- Invite friends and family to vote: Help your dog shine even brighter! Tell everyone you know to head to the site and vote for your dog. Each vote costs $1.
All proceeds from entry and voting fees will go directly towards Precious Paws Rescue's mission of providing care and loving homes for abandoned and neglected dogs.
Reserve a space
For those who want guaranteed calendar inclusion, a "reserve-a-grid-space" option is available for $10. This snags your dog an empty grid space before or after the numbered spaces each month that you can fill with your favourite photo of them!
More than just a calendar
This inaugural contest raises funds to support Precious Paws Rescue's crucial work. Founded in 2006, this dedicated team rescues and rehomes dogs in the Barrie area, finding perfect matches for loving families.
Their mission extends beyond rescue, promoting responsible pet ownership, positive training methods, and the importance of spaying and neutering.
