Priest Hit With Speeding Ticket Enroute to Funeral

Social Media Poll Shows Many Agreed With Fine

It sounds like the setup to a joke: police pulled a priest over on the way to a funeral. Instead of a punchline, the driver is facing a speeding ticket.

OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt tweeted about this traffic stop Wednesday, saying the motorist was stopped on the 400 travelling 150km an hour in a 100km an hour zone.

In a tweet, Schmidt posed the question: should the priest, enroute to giving last rites, get ticketed for excessive speed? Three quarters said yes.

At fifty kilometres over the posted limit, the driver would see his vehicle and licence seized by police for a week’s time.
