Orillia is getting one of two new OPP detachments, as Queen’s Park puts down $40 million to build them.
Solicitor General Sylvia Jones was among those taking in the official groundbreaking of the Orillia site, while another detachment has been announced for Parry Sound.

“No matter the circumstances, our government will always put people’s safety first,” said Jones. “We will remain committed to provide our frontline police officers with the state-of-the-art facilities, equipment and resources they need to protect Ontarians throughout the province.”
The new Orillia 33,0000 square foot detachment is to be located at 1 University Avenue, and is expected to be completed by late 2020.
